I love me some refried beans, but here in New York City, it's impossible to find any that are worth a lick (let alone a bite). Here's a shot of some yummy beans I ate last month in Alpine, Texas. The perfect mix of cheese, beans and bacon drippings. Que aprovecho!

That's so true. Oddly, you can buy mexican food here in the main grocery store...I mean the boxed shells and canned jalepenos etc. And even refried beans...for about 4 bucks a can. Actually, given the proper seasoning and a moment of intense meditation, they're pretty good. I'm going to texas for new years and i can't wait, but in the meantime, thanks for keeping the spirit in your blog, i enjoy reading it!
