Gillespie County roast chicken with grapes

When reading a book about American fruit, I saw an entry for one called chicken grape. The vine was described as woody and the fruit was usually dark and round. Finally, the book said that the chicken grape could be found as far West as Gillespie County, Texas.

Gillespie County is in the Texas Hill Country, and it’s home to towns such as Stonewall, Luckenbach, and Fredericksburg, the latter of which has become increasingly popular as a vacation destination over the past decade.
