Pumpkin spice cookies
My Uncle Richard’s wife Julie is the kind of person who always keeps a full jar of cookies on the counter. With a boisterous household filled with hungry teenagers, she likes to have plenty of snacks on hand, and homemade treats such as cookies are one of her offerings.
There are several varieties that she bakes, but the one that I love to see this time of year is her pumpkin spice cookies. They are tender, chewy pastries heady with the squash’s eponymous spice blend, which includes warm flavors such as cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg . . .
