Green chile pork posole
Last week, I lost my sense of smell. Thankfully, my sense of taste was still functioning, so eating wasn't completely strange. But everything had only the basic essence of salt, sour, sweet, or bitter, with all nuance lost.
Because it was the week between Christmas and New Year, I wasn’t able to get an appointment to see what ailed me. Though by New Year’s Eve, I could smell once again, and whether I had a bad cold or something else, I knew that I was on the mend.
Because it was the New Year, what I wanted . . .
