Last spring, my friends and I sat on the porch at Mattie’s in Austin. We shared a fried chicken dinner and enjoyed the unseasonably cool weather. With the sparkly lights, parading peacocks, and crisp breeze, it felt like Christmas. And when our server came back to the table to see if we wanted anything else, to commemorate this festive feeling in the air, my friend suggested a round of milk punch.

Now, for those who have never had milk punch, I realize it may sound strange. Punch conjures up large quantities of liquids, such as juice and soda and . . .
